As the end of summer begins to approach, it may start to feel like you’ve exhausted all your ideas for fun and affordable days out for the family. But have you considered a day at the beach?

There are plenty of beautiful beaches around Yorkshire for you to visit and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Here are some of the best beaches and coasts to visit this summer…

Scarborough Beach

Many people consider Scarborough Beach to be one of the top seaside destinations in the UK. This vibrant town has two beautiful sandy bays for visitors to explore with plenty of attractions to enjoy. From fun arcades, shops, parlours and cafes to donkey rides, sandcastle building and castle ruins. There is so much to do! If you’re a lover of water sports, conditions are often perfect for surfing!

Whitby Beach

Known for its beautiful sandy beaches and vibrant beach huts, the West Cliffe area of  Whitby beach is perfect for a day out with the family. This area of the beach stretches around two miles long making it ideal for beach games, paddling and sand castle making. As well as plenty of space for free fun, there are plenty of fun activities for the whole family to have a go at. This includes an outdoor pool, crazy golf, trampolines and much more! Yeah 

 

Robin Hoods Bay

Robin Hoods Bay is a natural beauty with an interesting history of being used by smugglers. This beach is perfect for dog walkers and adventurers looking for a scenic location to spend the day or go for a relaxing stroll. It is also a great spot for budding archeologists and fossil hunters as it is located along the Dinosaur Coast with plenty of treasures to be found! 

 

Filey Beach 

Filey Beach is the perfect destination for everyone with each end perfect for different types of days out. The Northern end has plenty of amusements and facilities where you can have some fun or grab a bite to eat. The Southern side is better suited for dog walkers and families to enjoy a quiet and relaxing day lounging on the sand or paddling in the water. No matter which end of the beach you decide the spend the day enjoying, you can always expect beautiful views! 

 

Flamborough Bay 

If sandy beaches aren’t your thing, the beautiful pebble landscapes of Flamborough Bay are perfect for you. This is also a great spot for families who love an adventure with woodlands trails nearby leading to the beach for children to enjoy exploring! And if you time your visit right and arrive during a low tide, you can also hunt fur marine wildlife by exploring the exposed rock pools. Facilities are also located close by making your visit even more convenient.
