New Year’s Eve always calls for a celebration – this year even more so, as we reach the halfway point in our current decade. If you’d like to mark the occasion with an unforgettable night out, the boutique event planners behind one of Britain’s best Coronation parties are hosting a dazzling New Year’s Eve Ball in the atmospheric setting of one of York’s most remarkable historic buildings.

Following on from their lavish ball at the Assembly Rooms last New Year, Noble Happenings invite you to join them at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall for a magical evening that will feature a sumptuous feast, live music and a traditional countdown to midnight.

Step into the 14th century timber-framed building and you’ll be greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. You’ll then be treated to pre-dinner entertainment in the vaulted undercroft before taking your seat in the Great Hall for a candlelit banquet that will be served in three delicious courses, all with vegetarian alternatives. To start, you’ll tuck into a roulade made with salmon and prawns or smoked aubergine and Mediterranean vegetables. This will then be followed by a blackened sirloin of beef served with pressed potato, charred leek and truffle and red wine jus, or blackened leeks with crispy onions, artichoke puree and truffle hollandaise. Bringing the meal to a close is a tempting dessert of Chocolate Delice complemented by griottine cherries and honeycomb tuile.

Later on in the evening you can dance to music performed by a live band. If all that partying leaves you feeling peckish, you can also help yourself to nibbles from a grazing table curated by York’s favourite cheesemongers, Love Cheese.

The Master of Ceremonies will lead the New Year’s countdown and everyone can join in with a rousing rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ as 2024 comes to a close.

The ball’s dress code is black tie and ball gowns, giving you the perfect opportunity to get dressed up to the nines. Tickets are selling fast, so book yours now to avoid missing out.

Noble Happenings’ New Year’s Eve Ball will take place at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall from 7pm-1am on the 31st December. Early Bird tickets start at £139.00 + £2.00 booking fee and will be on sale until the end of October.

VIP passes are also available, entitling you to benefits such as an exclusive early reception, port to accompany your cheese and champagne to see in the New Year with.
