Local neighbourhood finds we’ve enjoyed in the last couple of months. Here’s where to go sandwich shopping.
Haxby Road – Goodfillers
North from York city centre, only a short way up Haxby Road you’ll not miss a striking blue corner building. Step inside for a proper Yorkshire sandwich alongside fine frappes and coffees. Hearty breakfast rolls and generous lunch butties confirm they are indeed good fillers.

Micklegate – No.84 Deli & Cafe
Amongst Mickelgate’s handsome independent restaurants and bars is a welcoming deli and cafe which has been a part of the community for 20 years. This family-run business is the epitome of a friendly neighbourhood hub. Come here for sandwich, coffee and cake, return as another loyal customer.
Heslington – Browns of Heslington
A bakery with its own freshly made bread every day is sure to make a super sandwich. That’s exactly what Browns of Heslington is and does, with a vast array of fillings complementing the baked goodness. Pleasing students at the nearby University and everyone else who’s experienced Mr & Mrs Brown’s food during their 35 years in York.
Tang Hall – Bread ‘N’ Things
This long established sandwich shop in Tang Hall has been revived since being taken over seven years ago. The community showed its love for the old favourite and new owner by flocking back to Bread ‘n’ Things, and continue to enjoy the friendly service and delicious butties here.
